Adding on tens-By Veronica

Learning Intention: we are learning to add to make a whole tens.

Success Criteria: I know I am successful when I can add two numbers that make a whole ten.

Problems: Choose two numbers that make tens than add to find the answer.

1) 7+4+3=14 I know its 14 because 7+3=10+4=14

2) 9+1+7+2=19 I know its 19 because 9+1=10 7+2=9 so 10+9=19

3) 2+6+3+8+7=26 I know its 26 because 8+2=10 3+7=10 so 10+10=20 and another 10+10= 20+6=26

4) 9+12+8+11+4=44 I know its 44 because 9+11=20 and 12+8=20 so 20+20=40+4= 44

I know its 20 because, I double 10+10=20 I skip count by 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20 I multiply 10x2= 20
Image result for 10 marbles
2) Poppy,Sam and Millie have 5 marbles each.
How many do they have altogether?
I know its 15 because I skip counted by  5,10,15, or I use repeated addition 5+5+5=15, and I multiply 5x3=15.

3) Bently ate 3 packets of biscuits. There are 10 biscuits in each packet.
I used repeated addition of 10+10+10=30 I multiply 10x3=30 and I skip counted by 10,20,30.

I know its 77 because 30+40= 70+7=77

3.6+4+2+7+8=27
I know its 27 because 6+4=10 and 8+2=10 so, 10+10=20, 10+10=20+7=27
