Hi!I am Raincy and I am a water droplet.I was in a puddle,when the  sun shines on me. I was hot, and turn into a gas. Then I was floating up in the sky. I saw some other droplets there,so

We all gathered together and form into a big grey cloud.

Registration Day

Today Rachel and Hazel came and introduced us to the Summer learning Journey. They told us there are 60 activities, and each one is worth points.People who get big points they get  big prizes.The topic Summer Learning Journey is about the history of New Zealand.I feel really excited to see who is going to get the most points and get the prize.

Learning Intention: we are learning to add to make a whole tens. 

Success Criteria: I know I am successful when I can add two numbers that make a whole ten.

Problems: Choose two numbers that make tens than add to find the answer.

1) 7+4+3=14 I know its 14 because 7+3=10+4=14

2) 9+1+7+2=19 I know its 19 because 9+1=10 7+2=9 so 10+9=19

3) 2+6+3+8+7=26 I know its 26 because 8+2=10 3+7=10 so 10+10=20 and another 10+10= 20+6=26

4) 9+12+8+11+4=44 I know its 44 because 9+11=20 and 12+8=20 so 20+20=40+4= 44

Multiplying by twos,five and tens By:Veronica

Learning Intention: we are learning to multiply numbers up to 100.
Success Criteria: I know I am successful when I can multiply numbers using skip counting, doubles and repeated addition.

Problems: How many marbles are there all together?

1) 2 children had ten marble each =20
I know its 20 because, I double 10+10=20 I skip count by 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20 I multiply 10x2= 20

2) Poppy,Sam and Millie have 5 marbles each.
How many do they have altogether?
I know its 15 because I skip counted by  5,10,15, or I use repeated addition 5+5+5=15, and I multiply 5x3=15.

3) Bently ate 3 packets of biscuits. There are 10 biscuits in each packet.
I used repeated addition of 10+10+10=30 I multiply 10x3=30 and I skip counted by 10,20,30.

Mangroves - By Veronica

Learning Intention: we are learning about ecology.
Success Criteria: I know I am successful when I can write about the effect of mangroves to living things, people and environment.

Mangroves prevent waves from washing away the shore when the sea is rough. It help to stop poisons from the land entering the sea.

It is a breeding place for fish,shellfish,
crabs and birds. The wood of the mangrove can be made into a walking stick.

The lichen that hangs from the mangroves can be boiled to make green dye.

Adding on tens- By: Veronica

Learning Intention: we are learning to add tens to any numbers by counting in tens or adding tens together.
Success Criteria: I know I am successful when I can add tens together.

Problems:
1.40 carvings + 20 carvings =60carvings
I know that 4 tens + 2 tens =6 tens

2.37 bananas + 40 bananas =77 bananas
I know its 77 because 30+40= 70+7=77

3.6+4+2+7+8=27
I know its 27 because 6+4=10 and 8+2=10 so, 10+10=20, 10+10=20+7=27

Breakfast by the sea- By: Veronica

Learning Intention: we are learning to retell one of the after  Easter stories.
Success Criteria: I am successful when I can retell the after Easter stories by drawing a comic strip.

                                  

 1. Peter, John, and James went fishing.

2.  They fish all night but caught nothing.


3.  A man by the shore told them to "throw their net on the other side of their  boat" . When they pulled the net there were lots of fish.


4.  Peter knew it was Jesus so, he jumped into the water and swam to the shore and have breakfast with  Jesus.

Maui dolphin

Learning Intention: we are learning to write a report.
Success Criteria:I know I am successful when I can write a report about Maui dolphins.

Maui dolphin are marine mammals. They are warm blooded.


Maui dolphins use their fins for balancing. They  use their tail for swimming. Maui dolphin have eyes for looking everywhere for food. They have small white sharp teeth for eating small fish, squid flatfish, cod and seaweed.


Maui dolphin  give birth to their young and they feed them with milk.

Maui dolphin could only be found in New Zealand.

Success Criteria:I am successful when I can write a report about sharks.


Sharks are fish. They are cold blooded.
Sharks eat fish, sting rays, and other sharks. Large sharks eat sea lions and seals, small whales, otters, and sea turtles.
Sharks can be found in oceans. Some can be found in freshwater like lake and rivers.Most sharks give birth to their baby. Some lay eggs. 
Sharks are amazing  fish.




Some sharks are small and some are big. Sharks have tail for swimming, it also have fins for balancing. They have sharp white teeth. Sharks swim by propelling itself through the water using its tail.

Whales- By:Veronica

Learning Intention- we are learning to write a report.
Success Criteria- I am successful when I can write a report about whales.

Whales are mammals. Whales live in water.

Whales are large, streamlined aquatic mammals with eyes, a mouth, a blowhole and two flippers and a tail or flukes that are used for swimming.The flukes  moved  up and down motion to accelerate.

Whales can be found in all of the worlds major ocean from the Arctic and Antarctic ocean to the tropical waters in around the center of the equator.


Baleen whales have no teeth. They have comb like fringe, called Baleen, on the upper jaw, which is used to filter plankton, as well as small fish, and crustaceans. They are the largest species of whales. 


There are eight kind of whales. They are  Blue whale, Southern right whales, Sei whales, Humpback whales, Minke whale, Fin whale, Sperm whale.


Whales are the amazing mammals in the world.

Ash Wednesday :By Veronica

Learning Intention:we are learning to write a recount.
Success Criteria:I know I can do this when I write my story in order, and use capital letters and full stops correctly.

On Ash Wednesday we went to church and we gather in a circle.  Father Andrew came and read the story of Moses.Next we burned the drawings of our favourite things.We gave them up to have a space with God in heaven.

Then we went inside the church and sing and we also listened to the readers .Next Father Andrew put the sign of the cross on my forehead with ashes.Lastly everyone went back to their classroom.

The day I saved Emily - By Veronica

Last Wednesday I went down by the river. I  was fishing with my dad. Then we heard a  loud scream. A little girl name Emily  was in the cold water. She was shouting for help and also Emily's mum was shouting for help.

My dad and I went and get a long stick and pulled her out of the cold water. After that Emily's mum said, ''thank you for saving my daughter". We said ''your welcome ".Then we all went home.

Grandma and Grandpas

Success Criteria:I know I can do this when I write my story in order,and use capital letters and full stops correctly.

On the holiday I spend time with my grandma and grandpa with my family at Apia Samoa. 
When we got there we looked for a house.After we found a house we put our things in our own room.I looked around the house. There was a swimming pool.I shouted "yes".I put my swimming clothes on and I jumped in the swimming pool.I started to laugh, and my grandma and grandpa watched me  having fun.
I told my grandma and grandpa and my family that I really had fun at Apia Samoa. I ask "could we come back again? they said " yes". I shouted " Hooray".
